Wow, it has been so long since I've posted that I forgot my own member name and password for a second there.

Saarbrucken Germany

Friday afternoon Tracy and I headed off for a fun filled weekend in Deustchland. We flew into Frankfurt-Hahn airport, which ended up being in bumble f@*$. We had to wait 2 hours for a bus to come pick us up and drive us another 2 hours to Saarbrucken, which is about 30 min from Homborg.

At the bus stop this cute little old German lady started talking to me. This normally would have been fine except I couldn't understand her (because I don't speak ANY German) and she didn't speak English. She also couldn't grasp the words 'No German' and thought that if she continued talking eventually it would sink in and miraculously the tounges of fire would come engulf me and I'd be able to speak to her. OBVIOUSLY, this did not happen. Finally, an English guy came to my rescue and told her in German that we were American and didn't know any German.

Once in the city I met up with Erin Carline, my sister's sororrity sister and good friend. Our dad's also work together and their offices are basically on top of each other. She is studying at the University of Saarbrucken -- all her classes are in German and there are four (including her) Americans there, all from MU.

We tooled around, saw the city, drank some Geman beer and then on Sunday we went to Trier, the oldest city in Germany. Trier had this old roman gate called porta niegra that was built in the year 190 and used until the 1800s. There is a neat cathedral or Dom in German where the Christ Tunic is and a Basillica too. Cute little place, oh and on the fountain there was a beer bottle in one of the statue's hand and a one legged pigeon keeps an eye on the city gate.

Germany has good chocolate and beer and it is CHEAP! I love the Euro.
